Get to Know the LaundryCares Foundation
The LaundryCares Foundation, established in 2006, is CLA’s 501(c)(3) charitable organization, dedicated to enriching communities through programs that address the unmet needs of laundry customers. Recognizing that millions of individuals in underserved areas rely on laundromats weekly, LaundryCares Foundation leverages these spaces to provide essential services and educational resources.
Our Mission
We enrich our members’ communities through programming that addresses the unmet needs of laundry customers.
Our Vision
We envision an industry-wide effort where laundry facilities deliver basic needs and services in underserved communities worldwide. This includes offering free laundry services through events like Free Laundry & Literacy Days, providing learning resources for early childhood development, and assisting with disaster relief efforts.
Our History
CLA, formerly known as the Coin Laundry Association, and its members established the LaundryCares Foundation to focus the industry’s support of these communities through its network of laundry owners and their facilities.

Our Partnerships
Collaboration is central to our mission. Knowing that families spend an average of 2.5 hours during each visit to the laundromat, we’d partnered with organizations that share our commitment to helping underserved communities to make this tedious routine into an enjoyable and educational experience. Notable partners include:

Too Small to Fail
This partnership created a toolkit of materials for laundry owners to print for use in their stores and to make available to parents. These materials are available for free at various laundromats around the country.

Laundry Project
This initiative assists low-income families by covering laundry expenses while volunteers assist with laundry services, entertain children, and create a caring space at the laundromat.
Our Sponsors
The generosity of our sponsors enables us to deliver vital services and host impactful events. Their financial and program support are invaluable assets to our ongoing efforts in hosting Free Laundry & Literacy Days events, children’s literacy programs such as “Wash Time Is Talk Time,” and the educational and informational resources we create to expand our reach. These organizations play an essential role in supporting laundry business owners nationwide by providing high-quality products and services, contributing significantly to the success of self-service laundries. Their support is invaluable in driving our mission forward.
